Lyrics:
There is a sorry sun arising above a land that's bare and mean.
That I have lingered is surprising, but home I go, to land that's green.
But home I go, by roads unravelling; but home I go, by mountain crest.
I won't be weary from the travelling, for home I go, where I'll be blessed.
The dream that to this desert drew me, it was a false and foolish waste.
I said farewell to those that knew me, but home I go, to be embraced.
But home I go, from desperation; but home I go, by longing pressed.
My thoughts are on my destination, for home I go, where I'll be blessed.
Written for the RPM Challenge in 2011. I like to think that maybe this could be the song of the Prodigal Son.
Played in 3/4 time, it's also a sweet Celtic-sounding tune.

Lyrics:
The rain falls down, making little crowns, and each a jewel rare.
The rain brings down a thousand little crowns no king or queen can wear,
no king or queen can wear,
no king or queen can wear.
The rain brings down a thousand little crowns no king or queen can wear.
And you'd devise clever little lies the while you were untrue.
Oh you'd devise a thousand little lies while she was true to you
while she was true to you
while she was true to you
Oh you'd devise a thousand little lies while she was true to you
The tears fall down, making little crowns, and each a jewel rare.
The tears bring down a thousand little crowns no king or queen can wear,
no king or queen can wear,
no king or queen can wear.
The tears bring down a thousand little crowns no king or queen can wear.
I wrote this piece in 2010 for the RPM Challenge. I think the first verse by itself works well as a kind of nursery rhyme.
